This
section/workshop at the fifth Pan-European conference in The Hague,
9-11 September 2004 is part of a wider effort to reconceptualise
security by members of the AFES-PRESS board. They are part of a
new research programme on: Human and Environmental Security and
Peace (HESP)
a)
At
the International Studies Association in Montreal (Canada) 17-20
March 2004 where a proposal was submitted to organise two
panels on: "Reconceptualising Environmental Security"
and on "Reconceptualising Human Security" that will
bring together colleagues from GECHS, the peace research and the
security studies communities.
b)
At the conference
of the 20th International Peace Research Association in Sopron,
Hungary, 5-9 July 2004 a panel will be offered on "Security
dilemma, survival dilemma and sustainable peace" in a joint
session of the two IPRA sections Ecology and Peace" and in
the Section on security and environment.
c)
Possibly at the ISA Convention in Honolulu (USA), 1-5 March 2005.
d)
At other conferences and workshops organised by international
scientific and multilateral policy-oriented institutions.
It is planned to publish the best peer-reviewed results of the Hague
Workshop and of the related other panels as well as commissioned
papers in a major reference book in the same format as the first
volume of the Hexagon Series, see
editorial and planned
books on Human and Environmental Security and Peace (HESP).
The first volume of the Hexagon
Series has been published in June 2003:
